It was not exactly Kaiseki, at least not yet, but it was the 'virgin course' prepared by me with two other American classmates last evening, under the patient tutelage of Sensei Mari. It took us 5-hours because we were making everything from scratch, including Miso, even though for the meal we used the ones already in her kitchen.
* Miso Soup
* Sauteed Chicken & Grilled Fish with Miso
* 4 kinds of Duke or marinated pickles ... heavenly!
* 3 kinds of Tempura with dipping sauces
Family fare, cozy and warm, all made by us and this was only the 2nd day ... intensive is the word!
